Between Rs 50,000 and Rs 100,000 you get the phones most Pakistani buyers end up with: AMOLED screens, 45W charging, 7,000mAh batteries and 50MP or 108MP cameras. The choice is wide, and the same phone can cost Rs 10,000 more at one shop than another. This list is based on the specs each brand publishes and on prices from brand websites and Pakistani shops. We did not test these phones ourselves.

1. vivo Y31d: best overall
Price: Rs 72,999 (6GB, 128GB) to Rs 82,999 (8GB, 128GB) on vivo's site
vivo lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 chip (4G), a 6.75-inch LCD at 120Hz, a 50MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 7,200mAh battery with 44W charging.
Why it is first: a strong chip, the biggest battery here and fast charging, at a price vivo publishes itself. It is the safest all-round choice.
Watch out for: an LCD, not AMOLED, and no 5G.
2. REDMI Note 15: best camera and screen
Price: about Rs 67,999 to Rs 75,999
Xiaomi lists a MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra chip, a 6.77-inch AMOLED at up to 120Hz, a 108MP rear camera, a 20MP front camera and a 6,000mAh battery with 33W charging.
Why it is here: the best camera specs and selfie camera on this list, with an AMOLED screen, for less than most rivals.
Watch out for: Xiaomi also sells a REDMI Note 15 5G, which is a different phone with a different chip and battery. Check the box. The specs above are for the 4G model.
3. Infinix HOT 60 Pro: best screen for the money
Price: about Rs 66,499 to Rs 77,999
Infinix lists a MediaTek Helio G200 chip, a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED at 144Hz, a 50MP rear camera, a 13MP front camera and a 5,160mAh battery with 45W charging.
Why it is here: the sharpest and smoothest screen in this group, and fast charging.
Watch out for: the battery is smaller than most phones here. Its newer sibling, the HOT 70 Pro 5G, costs more.
4. Samsung Galaxy A17: best Samsung
Price: about Rs 65,695 to Rs 84,999
Samsung lists an Exynos 1330 chip, a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ at 90Hz, a 50MP camera with OIS, a 13MP front camera and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging. Versions come with 6GB and 128GB or 8GB and 256GB.
Why it is here: Samsung's software, service network and an AMOLED screen. OIS helps for sharper photos in low light.
Watch out for: 90Hz and 25W are behind the others at this price. Some shops list a Galaxy A17 5G, which we could not confirm on Samsung's Pakistan site. Our Galaxy A series guide has more.
5. HONOR X8d: big battery and 108MP
Price: about Rs 77,999 to Rs 82,999
HONOR lists 8GB RAM plus 8GB extended, 256GB storage, a 6.77-inch AMOLED at 120Hz, a 108MP rear camera and a 7,000mAh typical battery with 45W charging.
Why it is here: it combines a 7,000mAh battery, an AMOLED screen and 256GB storage.
Watch out for: HONOR's page does not name the chip. The higher price we saw came from a marketplace seller, so check the warranty.
6. OPPO A6: battery and fast charging
Price: about Rs 71,999 to Rs 81,999
OPPO lists a Snapdragon 685 chip, a 6.75-inch LCD at 120Hz, a 50MP rear camera and a 7,000mAh battery with 45W charging, with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB.
Why it is here: a big battery that charges fast.
Watch out for: OPPO's page also shows a 6,550mAh version, so check which one you are buying. The Snapdragon 685 is older than the chips in the vivo Y31d and REDMI Note 15.
7. Infinix HOT 70 Pro 5G: the 5G pick
Price: about Rs 81,199 to Rs 89,999
According to its launch report, it has a Dimensity 7100 5G chip, a 6.76-inch LCD at up to 144Hz, a 50MP camera, a 6,000mAh battery with 45W charging, IP68, and three Android updates with five years of security patches.
Why it is here: 5G, IP68 and a clear update promise, which most brands in this group do not state for their models.

8. REDMI 15: best value under Rs 60,000
Price: about Rs 53,499 to Rs 58,999
Xiaomi lists a Snapdragon 685 chip, a 6.9-inch FHD+ at up to 144Hz, a 50MP rear camera and a 7,000mAh battery with 33W charging, with 8GB RAM and 128GB.
Why it is here: a big, sharp, fast screen and a huge battery for about Rs 20,000 less than the phones above.
Watch out for: a basic camera setup compared with the REDMI Note 15.

- vivo Y500: a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED and an 8,100mAh battery. vivo's site lists it at Rs 87,999 (6GB, 128GB), and we saw it at about Rs 79,999 at one shop.
- OPPO A6k: OPPO lists a Snapdragon 685, a 120Hz screen and 6,500mAh. Shops listed it at about Rs 52,999 to Rs 66,499.

Before you pay:
- Check the exact model. Several phones here have 4G and 5G versions or two battery versions.
- Check PTA status. Dial *#06# and check the IMEI by SMS to 8484 or on dirbs.pta.gov.pk. See how to check PTA status by IMEI.
- Compare at least two shops. Price gaps of Rs 10,000 or more were common.
- Ask for the warranty card.
